ANN LIU 刘谙 (b. 2000) is a Chinese-American multi-disciplinary artist, trader, and content creator based in Los Angeles, originally from the Bay Area.

Her work across painting, trading, marketing, and media is building a new model for the artist's life — one that is intellectually rigorous, culturally rooted, and financially self-sovereign.

Rooted in a bicultural identity both American and Chinese, her work is a fusion of visual heritage and innovation — bridging the ancient tradition of shanshui (mountain-water painting) with the mediums and tempo of contemporary life. Melding the brushwork of calligraphic painting with the immediacy of acrylic, airbrush, and mixed media, Liu's art insists on the continued relevance of traditional Chinese aesthetics as a vital mode of reflection, memory, and healing.

Educated at the University of California, Berkeley, with a BFA in Fine Art and a BA in Media Studies/Communications, Liu brings critical depth to everything she touches. Her imagery is at once lush and introspective, mythological and modern, exploring themes of ancestry, feminine interiority, and cultural continuity. Meanwhile, her background in media theory sharpens her awareness of how art, identity, and information circulate in an era of cultural homogenization and accelerating AI-generated content. This informs an artistic direction that stakes its claim in the human hand, aiming to preserve the lore, craft, and philosophical integrity of Chinese art as a nostalgic revival necessary to construct the visual language of our time.

Beyond the studio, Liu is a day trader, crypto researcher, educator, and cultural strategist building at the intersection of art, culture, and financial literacy. She is the founder of Creatrix LLC, a creative agency and branding/marketing consultancy. She writes long-form and conducts on-chain research for Kaizen, a trading community with an audience of over two million. Under the name Qwant Kitty, she creates educational content for creatives who are ready to understand markets, build wealth, and stop waiting for permission to fund their own lives.

When she's not painting or trading, Liu is traveling the world, feeding her love for fashion and beauty, making floral arrangements, perpetually learning, and (paradoxically) mastering the very AI tools she paints against, believing the sharpest artists understand their moment from every angle.

Liu has lectured and spoken on panels exploring the intersection of art, technology, and finance. She has had a solo exhibition at H Foundation for the Arts LA, and recent group exhibitions include Charlie James Gallery LA, Good Mother Gallery (Oakland/LA), New Image Art LA, and Unveil Gallery LA.
